Revenue's renewed-liquor-licence register lists licence ref S4488 as a Publican's Licence (ordinary) - Theatre for FITZSIMONS HOTEL at 20/21/22 WELLINGTON QUAY, AND 15/16/17 AND 18 EAST ESSEX STREET in DUBLIN CITY with THE TEMPLE BAR TAVERN as licensee.[1]
Irish Times coverage in 2008 described Fitzsimons Hotel on Wellington Quay as backing onto Essex Street and identified its basement nightclub as part of Temple Bar's night-time noise context.[2] Irish Times coverage in 2014 said Fitzsimons Hotel used a loudspeaker to broadcast music into the street.[3] Irish Independent reported in 2017 that accounts for Temple Bar Tavern Ltd, operator of Fitzsimons Hotel, showed EUR377,961 spent on music, entertainment, and royalties in 2015.[4]
