Revenue's renewed-liquor-licence register lists licence ref 1002655 as a Publican's Licence (7-Day Ordinary) for FORMERLY CHIEF O'NEILL'S at EAST SIDE SMITHFIELD SQUARE, BOUNDED BY DUCK LANE AND JAMESON LANE, SMITHFIELD in DUBLIN CITY with GENERATOR PROPERTIES DUBLIN LIMITED as licensee.[1]
The Irish Times reported that Chief O'Neill's Hotel and Ceol were due to open in April 1999 as centrepieces of the Devey Group's Smithfield Village development in Dublin's north inner city.[2]
The same report said the attached Chief O'Neill's Cafe and Bar was planned as a traditional Irish music venue beside the Ceol traditional music centre.[2]
In 2008, The Irish Times reported that Chief O'Neill's was trading as a Park Inn after Rezidor SAS took over its operation in early 2006.[3]
