Revenue's renewed-liquor-licence register lists licence ref S0024 as a Publican's Licence (7-Day Ordinary) for HARTIGANS BAR at 100 LOWER LEESON STREET in DUBLIN CITY with EVELYN MULLIGAN as licensee.[1]
The Irish Times reported that Alfie and Evelyn Mulligan took possession of Harto's within a year of Alfie using a payphone in a Leeson Street pub, and that in 1974 they set about turning it into a country pub in Dublin.[2]
The same Irish Times obituary says Hartigan's features in Flann O'Brien's At Swim-Two-Birds.[2]
It also records that Denis O'Brien built a marquee replica of his favourite watering hole at Wanderers rugby ground for his 50th birthday because the original was too small for 700 guests.[2]
