Revenue's renewed-liquor-licence register lists licence ref S0158 as a Publican's Licence (7-Day Ordinary) for JOHN CLARKE AND SONS SOUTH DOCK at PART OF 12,14 AND 16 BRIDGE STREET, RINGSEND in DUBLIN CITY with OLD CASTLE TAVERN LIMITED as licensee.[1] In 2014, The Irish Times reported that Sober Lane was expanding to Dublin with a pub and pizza restaurant in Irishtown after getting the keys of John Clarke and Sons.[2] In a 2024 Irish Times letter, Liam Clarke recalled that his father bottled Guinness for many years in John Clarke and Sons in Irishtown.[3]
