Revenue's renewed-liquor-licence register lists licence ref N0249 as a Publican's Licence (7-Day Ordinary) for MULLINGAR HOUSE at NEW CONSTRUCTED AND ALTERED PREMISES, SITUATE AT 9 MULLINGAR TERRACE, AND NEWLY EXTENSIONS ATT & ADJ THERETO, CHAPELIZOD in DUBLIN CITY with REECEKEV TAVERNS LIMITED as licensee.[1]
Irish Times reported in October 1998 that the Mullingar House at Chapelizod, then owned by the same family for more than 80 years, was to be sold at auction and stood on a half-acre site with extensive residential accommodation.[2] Irish Times reported in March 1999 that the pub originated as a coaching inn over 300 years earlier, was a grade-two listed building, and had been gutted by new owners during refurbishment works.[3] The same report said the pub featured in Dubliners and more centrally in Finnegans Wake, where Humphrey Chimpden Earwicker is described as its owner.[3] Irish Times property coverage in 2017 called Mullingar House Chapelizod's main watering hole and eatery.[4]
