Listing historyNotable events

Revenue's renewed-liquor-licence register lists licence ref 1002519 as a Publican's Licence (7-Day Ordinary) for ONGAR HOUSE at 42/44 MAIN STREET, ONGAR VILLAGE in DUBLIN CITY with EIRIND LIMITED as licensee.[1]

Irish Times property coverage in 2001 said the Ongar development was named after Ongar House, which was to be preserved and fitted out as a restaurant, and described the house as a former home of the late Aga Khan and Rita Hayworth.[2] Irish Times coverage in 2004 said the replica Ongar House would reopen as a public house with a restaurant upstairs after the original had been demolished.[3] Irish Independent reported in 2008 that Manor Park Homes was seeking EUR4m for Ongar House, one of two newly built licensed premises in the newly created village.[4]
