Revenue's renewed-liquor-licence register lists licence ref 1018396 as a Publican's Licence (Ordinary) Hotel - BF - 1902 Act (Public Bar) for PREMIER INN DUBLIN CITY CENTRE (SOUTH GREAT GEORGE'S STREET) at PREMIER INN DUBLIN CITY CENTRE SOUTH GREAT GEORGES STREET, 41-46 SOUTH GREAT GEORGES STREET, 51-53 LOWER STEPHEN'S STREET in DUBLIN CITY with PI HOTELS & RESTAURANTS IRELAND LIMITED as licensee.[1]
The Irish Times reported in 2018 that Dublin City Council approved plans to turn the long-derelict Victorian terrace at 41-46 South Great George's Street into a hotel, and said the buildings had previously been used by Winston's Department Store and Dockrell's hardware store.[2] In 2019, The Irish Times reported that Premier Inn owner Whitbread had secured 635 Dublin city-centre rooms across four hotels, including South Great George's Street.[3] An Coimisiun Pleanala case PL29S.306715 records a signage appeal for Nos. 41-46 South Great George's Street and Nos. 51-53 Stephen Street Lower, Dublin 2, with permission granted with conditions on 2020-07-29.[4]
