Revenue's renewed-liquor-licence register lists licence ref N1617 as a Publican's Licence (ordinary) - Theatre for THE GATE THEATRE at PARNELL SQUARE in DUBLIN CITY with EDWARDS MACLIAMMOIR DUBLIN GATE THEATRE PRODUCTIONS LIMITED as licensee.[1]
The Irish Times reported in 2023 that the Gate Theatre on Parnell Square had turnover of EUR2.33 million in 2022 after turnover of EUR583,853 in 2021, and that accounts were filed by Edwards MacLiammoir Dublin Gate Theatre Productions DAC.[2] Irish Times theatre history coverage has described the Gate as radical in staging European and original Irish plays, citing Ruud van den Beuken's account of the Gate opening Dublin to experimental plays from abroad.[3] Another Irish Times profile said the Gate Theatre was the first theatre to put all 19 of Beckett's plays on in one programme.[4]
