The Irish Independent wrote in 2000 that the Pavilion in Dun Laoghaire had first opened in 1903, burned down in 1915, and was later rebuilt as a theatre and cinema.[2]

The same report said the then-current Scott Tallon Walker-designed Pavilion development included a municipal theatre, a gymnasium and a retail unit.[2]

The Irish Times reported in 2002 that Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council's draft Coastal Plan envisaged a public plaza bridging the railway line in front of the new Pavilion Theatre.[3]

The Irish Times reported in 2004 that Michael Warren's Gateway sculpture had been donated as part of the artwork for the Pavilion Theatre development on Marine Road and installed at Pavilion Plaza in 2003.[4]
