Revenue's renewed-liquor-licence register lists licence ref S2636 as a Publican's Licence (7-Day Ordinary) for THE PENNY BLACK at CASTLE ROAD, CASTLETYMON, TALLAGHT in CO. DUBLIN with BEECHWAY LIMITED as licensee.[1]

Irish Times reported in 2011 that Labour politician Pat Rabbitte's Tallaght canvass ended with a stop in the Penny Black pub.[2] Irish Independent reported in 2006 that a Tallaght woman said she had been working in the Penny Black when news of the shooting of journalist Veronica Guerin came on the radio.[3]
