Revenue's renewed-liquor-licence register lists licence ref S0311 as a Publican's Licence (7-Day Ordinary) for THE ROYAL MARINE HOTEL at GRESHAM TERRACE, DUN LAOGHAIRE in CO. DUBLIN with NEVILLE HOTELS UNLIMITED COMPANY as licensee.[1]

The Irish Independent reported in February 2001 that land around the Royal Marine Hotel overlooking Dun Laoghaire harbour looked set to be sold to a Wexford-based builder, with Neville Builders understood to be the favoured contender.[2]

The Irish Times reported in July 2004 that Wm Neville & Sons had permission to refurbish and extend the Royal Marine Hotel, described as a protected structure.[3]

The approved plan included 237 bedrooms, two bars, two restaurants, four function rooms, three retail units, leisure facilities, reinstatement of the original mansard roof, and a central tower.[3]

The Irish Times reported in February 2005 that An Bord Pleanala approved the extension and refurbishment despite objections, and said the Nevilles had bought the business for EUR22 million in 2001.[4]

The Irish Times reported in June 2007 that the Royal Marine Hotel was reopening that weekend after a major overhaul.[5]
