Irish Times listed Friar's Gate Theatre Arts in Kilmallock in 2011 as presenting Set in Stone, a promenade-style production in which audiences gathered at Kilmallock's Dominican Abbey before being led to Friars' Gate Theatre for a theatrical journey through the town's history.[2] Limerick Leader reported that Set in Stone returned to Friars' Gate Theatre in 2011 after a previous sell-out run, and said the two-hour play was written and directed by John Sheehy.[3] Limerick Leader reported in 2014 that John Sheehy's comedy Men Without Souls was making its world premiere at Friars' Gate Theatre in Kilmallock with support from Limerick City of Culture and Ballyhoura Development.[4]
