In 2013, The Irish Times described the Lime Tree Theatre on the Mary Immaculate College campus as a positive development in Limerick's cultural infrastructure, filling a need for a venue with more than 500 seats.[2] The same article said the venue had received touring productions from the Abbey Theatre and Druid Theatre Company, and had hosted Fresh Film Festival screenings and Alone it Stands.[2] Limerick Leader coverage in 2018 placed the Bualadh Bos Summer Camp at the Lime Tree Theatre, with children attending drama workshops, singing classes and dance classes at the venue.[3]
