Revenue's renewed-liquor-licence register lists licence ref WXP0029 as a Publican's Licence (7-Day Ordinary) for BARRETTS at CUSTOM HOUSE QUAY, WEXFORD in CO. WEXFORD with RICHARD BARRETT as licensee.[1]

An Irish Independent regional obituary says Bill and Mary O'Leary owned the Bay View Bar on Custom House Quay for many years, that Bill bought it in the mid-1950s, and that the bar was later known as Barrett's.[2]

In 2011, the same regional section reported that Wexford Drama Group staged Conor McPherson's The Weir in Barrett's Bar on Custom House Quay, using the pub itself as the production setting.[3]
