Who we are

Pubhub.ie is an Irish pub directory operated as part of a small portfolio of specialist Irish websites. Our registered address is in Ireland. You can contact us at pubhub.ie/contact.

What data we collect

We collect data in two ways: automatically through analytics, and directly when you submit a form.

Analytics: We use self-hosted Matomo analytics, hosted on our own servers in Ireland. Matomo records pages visited, approximate geographic location (country and region level), browser type, and referring URL. We anonymise IP addresses before storing them — the last two octets of your IP are removed. We do not use third-party analytics services. No data is transferred to Google, Meta, or any US-based advertising platform.

Form submissions: When you submit any of the following forms, we collect the data you provide:

  • Closure story submissions — pub name, location, approximate year closed, your story, and optionally your email address
  • Pub claim forms — pub name, licence reference, address, your name, email, phone, opening hours, and details of any corrections
  • Trad session submissions — pub name, location, session schedule, notes, and your email address
  • General contact enquiries — name, email, and message

How we use your data

Form submission data is used only for the purpose stated on the form — verifying pub listings, publishing closure stories (with your permission), adding trad session schedules, or responding to general enquiries. We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising.

Analytics data is used to understand which parts of the directory are most useful and to monitor for technical errors. We do not use analytics data to build individual user profiles.

Legal basis for processing

Under GDPR, our legal basis for processing form data is legitimate interest (verifying and improving our directory) and, where applicable, your consent (for publishing closure stories attributed to you). Our legal basis for analytics is legitimate interest in operating the site.

Data retention

Form submissions are retained for as long as they are operationally relevant — typically 24 months, after which they are reviewed and deleted unless they have been incorporated into the directory or editorial record. Analytics data is retained for 13 months.

Your rights

Under GDPR you have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of personal data we hold about you. You also have the right to object to processing and to data portability. To exercise any of these rights, contact us. We will respond within 30 days.

Cookies

We use a small number of cookies to operate the site and analytics. See our cookies policy for details.

Third-party services

Pages that include maps use Leaflet.js with OpenStreetMap tile data served from OpenStreetMap Foundation servers. OSM's privacy policy applies to tile requests. We use Google Fonts for typography — font files are served from Google's CDN, which means Google receives a request when you load a page using those fonts.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page if our practices change. The date at the top of the page indicates when it was last revised.
