Revenue's renewed-liquor-licence register lists licence ref 1001118 as a Publican's Licence (Ordinary) Hotel - BF - 1902 Act (Public Bar) for THE BELVEDERE HOTEL at 1,2,3 NORTH GREAT GEORGE'S STREET AND RUTLAND PLACE, AND GARDINERS ROW in DUBLIN CITY with BARDOLET LIMITED as licensee.[1]
NIAH records the Belvedere Hotel at 1 North Great George's Street and Great Denmark Street as a regional-rated building of architectural and artistic special interest, previously named Dublin and Meath Railway Company, originally a house, historically an office and now in use as a hotel.[2] NIAH says the building was built in 1772 and has served as the Belvedere Hotel since circa 1900.[2] The Irish Times reported in 2006 that residents of North Great George's Street, including Senator David Norris, brought a High Court challenge over renewal of a liquor licence for the Belvedere Hotel at Rutland Place and North Great George's Street.[3]
