Live trad music tonight in Ireland

No app currently aggregates Ireland's pub trad sessions in one place. We're building that. Below is the verified seed list — pubs we know run regular sessions, confirmed from their own websites and public records. Submit your pub's schedule to be listed.

Dublin

The Cobblestone
King Street North, Smithfield, Dublin 7 · 1 min from Luas
Mon–Fri from 5pm · Sat–Sun from 2pm · Free, no booking
Run by the Mulligan family since 1987. The closest thing Dublin has to a no-nonsense trad institution. Thursday 5pm is the Donegal fiddle session. The Backroom hosts ticketed concerts separately. No cover charge ever for the front bar sessions.
Daily
McNeill's
140 Capel Street, Dublin 1 · 5 min walk from Temple Bar
Six nights a week from 9pm · Free, no booking
Established 1834 — started as a traditional instruments shop and became a pub. Core session group of seven players; intimate space that can't comfortably take more, which keeps it genuine. Perfectly poured Guinness. No cover charge.

Galway

Tig Coilí
Mainguard Street, Galway City · Latin Quarter
Mon–Wed 6pm & 9:30pm · Thu 6:30pm & 9:30pm · Fri–Sat 6pm & 10:30pm · Sun 2:30pm & 8pm
Twice-daily sessions, all year round. No microphones, no familiar ballads, just jigs and reels. Sharon Shannon, Paul Brady, Frankie Gavin and Mairtin O'Connor have all joined impromptu sessions here. Family-owned. Galway's trad heartbeat.
Twice daily
The Crane Bar
Sea Road, Galway West End · Small Crane Square
Nightly from 9:30pm · Sunday 2pm matinee session · Cash only
Victorian corner pub, two levels, nightly sessions upstairs and down. Less touristy than the Latin Quarter — a genuine local session that happens to welcome visitors. Cash only, so come prepared.
Nightly
Tigh Neachtain
17 Cross Street Upper, Galway City · Latin Quarter
Regular sessions throughout the week · Sunday evenings particularly recommended
Founded 1894 in the former home of animal rights activist Richard Martin. One of the oldest pub buildings in Galway. Sessions range from trad to jazz. Sunday evening is where you'll reliably catch outstanding players. Open fires, wooden interior.
Weekly
O'Connor's Famous Pub
Salthill, Galway City · Promenade area
Nightly from 7:30pm
Third-generation family bar packed with antiques, oil lamps, and Irish memorabilia. Trad sessions around the open fire. Fills quickly — arrive early. Ed Sheeran filmed his Galway Girl video here, which tells you something about the authenticity of the atmosphere. Arrive before 8pm to get a seat.
Nightly

Cork

Sin É
8 Coburg Street, Cork City
7 nights/week at 7pm · Best sessions: Tue 9:30pm · Fri & Sun 6:30pm
First opened 1889. The name means "That's it" in Irish — referring to the funeral parlour next door, which sets the tone nicely. Has been running trad sessions since the early 1970s, when many Cork pubs were closed to traditional music. Universally regarded as the best trad pub in Cork.
Nightly

Clare

Brogan's Bar & Restaurant
24 O'Connell Street, Ennis, Co. Clare
Nightly — both formal and informal sessions
Clare is Ireland's unofficial capital of traditional music, and Ennis its headquarters. Brogan's runs formal scheduled sessions alongside the spontaneous kind — the best sort. Dark, enclosed interior, heavy timber, close tables. Good food as well as good music.

Verification note: Every pub listed above has been independently verified from their own websites, Discover Ireland listings, and/or The Session (thesession.org) records as of April 2026. Session schedules change — always check directly with the pub before travelling. If a listing is out of date, let us know.

Submit your pub's session

Run a pub with regular trad sessions? Submit your schedule and we'll list it here. As more pubs claim their listings, this feed will populate automatically — for now, it's manual, and we review every submission.

We verify every submission before listing. Typically reviewed within a week.

The bigger picture

TheSession.org does an excellent job cataloguing specific session times and venues. We're building something different: an integrated directory where the pub's full profile — address, map, opening hours, heritage record — sits alongside its session schedule. As pub owners claim their listings and add session details, this page will update automatically. For now, it's curated by hand.
