Revenue's renewed-liquor-licence register lists licence ref 1022218 as a Publican's Licence (Ordinary) Hotel - BF - 1902 Act (Public Bar) for THE MERCANTILE HOTEL at 24,25,26,27 & 28 DAME STREET, D02 C861 & D02 ND77 in DUBLIN CITY, with ORANGESEED DESIGNATED ACTIVITY COMPANY as licensee.[1] An Coimisiún Pleanála’s case PL29S.305840 concerns 24-28 Dame Street (including The Mercantile Hotel and Dame House) and records a planning appeal decision, signed 2020-04-17, granting permission with revised conditions for partial demolition, change of use from offices to hotel use, and refurbishment/upgrade of the existing hotel.[2] In February 2026, the Irish Independent reported that Dublin City Council planners refused a planning application seeking to retain hotel signage/branding and a keg lift installed without permission, and said the matter would be investigated by the council’s Planning Enforcement Section.[3]
